China’s Resolve to Forge Strategic Iran Ties Unchanged

BEIJING (Dispatches) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping told Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani here that Beijing is seeking to develop "comprehensive strategic partnership” with Tehran.
"No matter how the international and regional situation changes, China's resolve to develop comprehensive strategic partnership with Iran will remain unchanged,” state news agency Xinhua quoted Xi as saying at the Great Hall of the People.
Xi commended the enduring friendship between China and Iran, He calling on both sides to deepen mutual trust and advance communication and coordination, increase cooperation on security and anti-terrorism, and improve cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The two sides should work together to accelerate the building of a new type of international order and a community with a shared future for mankind, he added.
The Chinese president hailed legislative exchanges as a significant part of the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership, pointed out that China's National People's Congress should reinforce cooperation with the Iranian parliament and learn from each other's experiences of governance so as to play a bigger role in boosting bilateral ties.
Xi also expressed China's support for Iran to play a constructive role in regional peace and stability in the Middle East and willingness to maintain close contact with Iran on regional issues.
Larijani said Iran looks at its relations with China from a strategic and long-term perspective.
He confirmed that Iran-China friendship not only conforms to the fundamental interests of both countries but also bears significance for peace and prosperity of Asia and the world.
Larijani further echoed President Xi by expressing Iran's willingness to further boost political trust and pragmatic collaboration between the two countries.  
Larijani called China "one of Iran’s reliable partners”, calling for the expansion of mutual relationship.
The Chinese government's top diplomat told Iran's Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday that Beijing wants to deepen "strategic trust" with Tehran.
"I would like to take this opportunity to have this in-depth strategic communication with my old friend to deepen the strategic trust between our two countries and to ensure fresh progress of the bilateral comprehensive and strategic partnership," Chinese State Councillor Wang Yi said.
Zarif is in Beijing accompanying a delegation that includes Larijani and Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh.
