Iran, Italy Vow to Expand Cooperation on Art

TEHRAN (FNA)- Italian ambassador to Tehran and Iranian deputy culture minister pledged to broaden cultural and artistic cooperation between Iran and Italy.
"Italy is preparing to open a cultural center in Tehran, and along with Iran’s cultural attaché to Italy, enables both nations to enjoy various artistic events,” said Italian ambassador in Iran Mauro Conciatori.
He referred to the recent performance of the Italian artist Nicola Piovani in Tehran, and said that the Italian artist is interested to hold such concert again, like other Italian artists who have held concerts or exhibitions in Iran.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Art Affairs Mojtaba Hosseini, for his part, expressed Iran’s readiness to strengthen ties with Italy in different artistic fields.
He named Fajr International Film Festival as a great opportunity to resume the cooperation in artistic fields.
Hosseini also referred to the variety of folk costumes in Iranian southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, and said that the cloth design college that has been recently established in that province is a place that Italian designers can be introduced to Iranian cloth design.
A week ago, Mauro Conciatori asserted that Rome is determined to bolster and enhance mutual cooperation with Tehran.
The Italian envoy made the remarks on October 15, addressing the inaugural ceremony of the newly-built building of Iran-Italy Joint Chamber of Commerce in Tehran. Chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholamhossein Shafiei was also among the participants.
Two days after that, Italian Trade Commissioner in Iran Augusto Di Giacinto announced that Italy is eyeing expansion of mutual cooperation with Iran.
