Iran Claim World ParaVolley Title for Seventh Time

Tehran (Dispatches) – Iran swept past Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets (25-18, 25-13, 25-20) to win the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships for the seventh time.
Iran, 2016 Paralympic Champions, was in Pool B of the competition along with Russia, Germany and Japan where they managed to defeat all their rivals. Advancing to the next round, they gained victory over Paralympic bronze medalist Egypt 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-15) at a quarterfinal on Thursday.
Iran launched a 3-0 win against Ukraine (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) in the semifinal on Saturday, earning the ticket to Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
The 2018 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships began on July 15 in Netherlands and wrapped up on July 22, 2018.
Meanwhile, Iran women's national sitting volleyball team also participated in the event and finished 9th.
Ukraine took the bronze by beating Brazil 3-0 (28-26, 25-23 and 27-25) in an epic play-off for the third place.
Also on Sunday, Rio 2016 Paralympic bronze medalist Egypt lost to Russia in straight sets (25-21, 25-22 and 25-13) and claimed the sixth spot.
China also defeated the United States 25-21, 25-21 and 25-21 in the seventh- eighth place match.
The 2018 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships began on July 15, and finished on July 22, 2018.
It has won the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships for seven times, namely in 1984 Norway, 1986 Hungary, 1990 Netherlands, 1994 Germany, 1998 Iran, 2018 United States and 2018 Netherlands.
