Iranian Jewish MP:

Zionist Crimes Reminiscent of Nazi Germany

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- The lone Jewish member of Iran's parliament has likened the occupying regime of Israel's bombing of Gaza to the actions of Nazi Germany, the Iranian news agency Fars reported.
"The Zionist regime's crimes are reminiscent of the actions taken by the German Nazis during the First and Second World Wars,” Siamak Marreh Sedq said.
He also compared the Zionist regime's atrocities against the Palestinians to Saddam Hussein's predations upon Shia Muslims in Iraq and Iran.
Sedq, a 50-year-old physician, fills the parliamentary seat reserved for Jews, as a religious minority, going back over a century. He replaced long-time Jewish MP Maurice Motamed in 2008.
In a 2010 interview with Russia Today, he said: "Jews are safe in Iran. That’s true. Nobody needs guards. There has never been a single instance of anti-Semitism in Iranian society. This phenomenon belongs to the European, Christian world. There is no anti-Semitic sentiment in Iran. We have no attacks on synagogues or cemeteries as happens in Paris."
On Tuesday, an MP said an Iranian parliamentary delegation is poised to leave for Gaza Strip to sympathize with the Palestinians facing Israeli atrocities.
"A Majlis delegation will be dispatched to Gaza Strip to express sympathy with the families of Gaza martyrs and deliver donations from the Iranian people to the residents of this region,” MP Hassan Kamran said.
He added that the parliamentary delegation’s visit to Gaza is taking place within the framework of a piece of legislation adopted by the Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Committee.
Kamran said 14 lawmakers have so far registered to travel to the besieged Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani called on Muslim countries to stand united in the face of Israeli atrocities.
Larijani was speaking in the parliament after Palestinian Ambassador to Tehran Salah Zawawi and Khaled al-Qaddoumi, the representative of resistance movement Hamas in Iran, briefed Iranian parliamentarians on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
"The brutal assaults by the Zionist regime on the oppressed Palestinian nation require Muslims… to have more unity and convergence,” Larijani told a parliament session.
Larijani also emphasized the importance of supporting the Palestinian cause under the current situation.
Majlis Director General for International Affairs Hussein Sheikholeslam said the Islamic Republic will help the Palestinian nation with "all might”.
He said Iran will do all it can to serve the Palestinian nation no matter what.
Sheikholeslam further pointed to the Israel airstrikes on Gaza, saying the Zionist military targets civilians, including women and children, and destroys homes and mosques in an attempt to pile mental pressure on the resistance movement in the blockaded coastal enclave.
