Vladivostok High School Students Get Job Training for 40 Professions
VLADIVOSTOK (Xinhua) -- High school students had the chance to practice more than 40 occupations at "Taste of Profession”, a vocational training project for high school students, on Wednesday in Vladivostok, Russia.
Over 500 high school students tried practical sessions in hairdressing, cooking, bookkeeping, design, urban development and architecture provided by 13 institutions of higher education in Vladivostok.
"Today I have seen a lot of interesting professions, and this project has helped me realize what my future profession will be. I’ll be a designer,” high school student Angelina Volkova said.
"School students have tried various occupations today, from calligraphy to braiding and car repairing, which may later become their profession,” said Olga Anatolyevna Lesina, a senior teacher in Hotel Management at Primorskiy Polytechnical College.
"I think that first step towards a profession has to be out of one’s own will instead of his parents’. It is great to plan your own career yourself,” Lesina added.
The session specialists also told students about professions that were not popular before but are again in demand, and how the lack of work force affects salary increase.
The vocational training project is an annual event in several Russian cities. The municipal public institution, the Youth Resource Center, the Vladivostok College in Humanities and Commerce, and the Public Employment Center have been organizing the "Taste of Profession” project in Vladivostok since 2013.
