Scores of Anti-Settlement Palestinian Protesters Injured by Zionist Troops
RAMALLAH (Dispatches) – Nearly 160 Palestinian protesters have been injured during clashes with the Zionist troops in the northern West Bank, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The medical teams treated 79 Palestinians injured by Zionist troops on Friday near the villages of Beita and Beit Dajan, located south and east of Nablus city respectively, the PRCS said in a statement sent to Xinhua.
Among the 79 injured Palestinians were two young men shot by live bullets and moved by ambulance to the main hospital in Nablus, it added.
In addition, nine others were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets fired by the Zionist troops, including a female journalist who was shot in her face, while 68 suffered suffocation after inhaling tear gas fired by the troops.
Since May 2021, Beita village has witnessed almost daily clashes with Zionist troops in protest against establishing a settlement outpost on lands owned by the village’s residents.
Beit Dajan village has seen weekly protests organized by Palestinian activists against the Zionist confiscation of lands and settlements’ expansion in the West Bank.
Zionist troops also attacked a weekly anti-settlement protest in the village of Kafr Qaddum in Qalqilya Province on Friday, using rubber bullets and tear gas.
Murad Shteiwi, a media spokesman in the Qalqilya region, said that fierce clashes erupted as Palestinians confronted Zionist troops.
He added that three Palestinians were hit with rubber bullets, while dozens of people suffered breathing difficulties due to the tear gas during the clashes.
In the early hours of Friday, the Zionist troops stormed the village and arrested two young men, identified as Qusay Adnan and Musa al-Qaddumi.
The occupying regime occupied the West Bank and the Gaza Strip — territories the Palestinians want for a future state — during the Six-Day Arab-Zionist War in 1967. It later had to withdraw from Gaza.
More than 600,000 Zionists live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank.
All the settlements are illegal under international law. The United Nations Security Council has condemned the settlement activities in several resolutions.
