The West’s Hypocrisy of Disarmament

The US and NATO have reportedly offered to discuss with Russia some form of disarmament in order to defuse the crisis over Ukraine.
The report leaked by the Spanish daily ‘El Pais’ didn’t say what type of conventional and non-conventional weapons the West is willing to remove from its arsenals in exchange for disarmament on the part of Moscow as well.
It is also not clear whether or not a part of the huge stockpile of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) on both sides of the east-west divide would be dismantled.
Analysts have been quick to point out the lack of honesty of the US and West European regimes concerning the doomsday weapons and their hypocrisy in accusing other countries, including Iran, of possessing them.
Such accusations are totally rubbish, especially concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has always stressed that the region and the world should be free of WMDs, and has taken the lead in presenting a solution for materializing this objective.
It is worth recalling that way back in April 2010 Tehran was the venue of an International Conference on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation with the theme: “Nuclear Energy for All, Nuclear Weapons for None”.
Unfortunately for world peace, Iran’s initiative has been ignored by the big powers, in spite of the fact that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has several times emphasized that misusing nuclear energy to manufacture weapons is haraam or religiously forbidden.
He has always reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the use of nuclear and chemical weapons as a cardinal and unpardonable sin.
Disarmament is a challenge that has been discussed by international circles since the end of World War One, although this has not stopped the big powers from developing more and more lethal weapons of mass destruction.
Ironically, the most dangerously nuclear-armed states are the US and Russia, followed by China, France, Britain, India, Pakistan, and the illegal Zionist entity.
The fact is that today the world is sitting on a powder keg, ever since the US misused nuclear science to not just manufacture the atomic bomb, but dropped two atomic bombs on the unsuspecting Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 when World War 2 had virtually ended. This unforgivable sin of the US in annihilating hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children, has become more sanguine today, because of Washington’s refusal to apologize to Japan for this crime.
Moreover, since then the US has unabashedly produced and stockpiled far more dangerous nuclear warheads and has not ruled out their use. Along with major West European powers, it also supports the illegal Zionist entity in manufacturing and stockpiling nuclear weapons, and thus posing the greatest threat to the peace of West Asia and North Africa.
This is one of the greatest obstacles to disarmament and whatever the big powers say and discuss about dismantling of weapons of mass destruction, is nothing but idle talk.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has several times reiterated that superficial measures like restricted reduction of nuclear weapons cannot replace the full destruction of nuclear weapons.
