The Real Purpose of US Arms Sale to Arab States

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

The recent report that the US regime is to sell weapons worth 2.5 billion to Egypt raises a number of questions, although these armaments are not on any par with the sophisticated state-of-the-art military technology Washington supplies to Israel – the number one enemy of Arabs, the rest of the Muslim world, and all humanity.
Certain groups in the US, such as the Jewish lobby and the so-called human rights bodies have objected to the sale.
The first group is fearful that some of these might find a way to the Palestinians through stealth means as corruption is rampant in the Egyptian armed forces, although they are well aware that President General Abdul-Fattah as-Sisi will never allow even a rifle or a bullet to be used against his friends, the Zionists.
The second group claims that it is concerned about Cairo’s worsening human rights record of brutal repression of any voice of dissidence and the fact that some 60,000 political prisoners are languishing in Egyptian prisons.
There might be some grain of truth in what the human rights groups in the US say about possible use of these weapons for further repression of any demands for democracy in Egypt, but they should know that the White House sells weapons to its clients in the Arab states for this very purpose and for use against fellow Arab countries, as is evident by the destruction of Yemen and the slaughter of its people by the Saudis and the Emiratis through their American-supplied weapons.
Moreover, the US regime itself is the most blatant violator of human rights with its foreign policy of terrorism around the world, as is clear by the illegal presence of American troops in Syria, Iraq, and other parts of West Asia, as well as its provocative military moves in Ukraine against Russia, and in Taiwan against China.
As a matter of fact, the Joe Biden regime has openly admitted that the weapons sale to Egypt is for defence of the national security of the United States, which means not of Egypt.
In the words of the US State Department: “We maintain that our bilateral relationship with Egypt will be stronger, and America’s interests will be better served, through continued US engagement to advance our national security interests.”
It is crystal clear what the US means and what the Egyptians and the other client regimes do not understand.
The sale of US weapons besides being a purely commercial venture for earning windfall profits for the arms manufacturers is not meant for safeguarding the security of the Arab world.
As we said earlier, these second rate armaments are not on any par with the state-of-the-art American military technology supplied to the illegal Zionist entity.
These are only meant to satisfy the ego of dictatorial and authoritarian regimes, which are not the least concerned about the usurpation of Palestine by the Zionists and how to liberate this Muslim land.
If only the heads of state of these Arab countries had faith in God Almighty and dedication to the Islamic cause for promotion of peace, prosperity, and social justice that includes safeguarding the rights of the oppressed Muslim masses, they would not have willingly placed their necks under the American yoke.
They would have encouraged their own sincere citizens to embark upon building military equipment as per international standards and capable of piercing the means of defence of their prime enemy, the illegal Zionist entity.
If Iran can manufacture its own weapons that are more than a match for any armaments produced by the West, why can’t Egypt do the same, since there is no dearth of scientists and technological brains in that culturally advanced Arab country?
If the Yemenis can produce from scratch projectiles capable of shattering the advanced patriot anti-missile system of the US in Saudi Arabia and the UAE – as a prelude to the manufacture of sophisticated arms for the cherished goal of liberation of Palestine – why shouldn’t the Egyptians do it?
True, the US and the Zionists will never allow this to happen through different means including the sale of second rate armaments, but where there is a will there is a way, and what Arab states need are sovereign independent rulers elected by the people on the basis of Islamic laws, and not client regimes.
