Hosts India Held to Goalless Draw by Iran at Women Asia Football Cup
NEW DELHI - Hosts India settled for a goalless draw with Iran at the ongoing Women Asia Football Cup, at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Thursday.
This was the second match in Group A of the tournament, the final of which is scheduled to be played on Feb. 6.
Iran were the better side in the opening minutes during which they got two scoring chances, including a hit on the crossbar, but the home side took control of the Group A match midway into the first half and dominated till the end.

Iran has succeeded in taking part in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first time, competing India, China and Taiwan in Group A.
India host the 20th edition of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup from January 20 to February 6.
The number of teams increased from eight to 12 for the first time in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. The competitions are being held in three groups, composing four teams.
Earlier in the opening match of the tournament, China defeated Chinese Taipei 4-0.
