TEHRAN – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Saturday nine citizens who had traveled to Turkey for migration but ended up stranded in Syria are going to be repatriated on January 1.
Saeed Khatibzadeh said the Iranian citizens would return home via Razi border crossing in western Iran. Reports suggest the nine Iranians had introduced themselves as Syrian Kurds after being arrested by Turkish police who handed them over to terrorist groups stationed in northern Syria.
