Great Success ‘Without Everything’ Makes It to Bulgaria
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The 14th Sofia Middle East and North Africa Region Film Festival in Bulgaria has been set to screen ‘Without Everything’ from Iran.
Directed by Mohsen Qaraee, the scenario of the film is an adaptation of the German comedy ‘The Visit’ (Der Besuch der alten Dame) by famous Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt.
The movie is about a rich woman who arrives in her home village, which she has not visited for 20 years. Many locals have already moved to the city, and the rest are in poverty.
The residents hope the newcomer to revive the village and bring back the smiles on their faces. But there is one condition that may become a real challenge for the locals.
Parviz Parastouee, Hedieh Tehrani, Baran Kosari, Hadi Hejazifar, Pedram Sharifi, Zahir Yari, Laleh Marzban, Babak Karimi, Mahtab Nasirpour, and Farid Sajjadi-Hosseini are on the cast list of the flick.
‘Without Everything’ was nominated in 14 categories at the 39th Fajr Film Festival in Iran, where it won five awards.
‘Atabai’ by Niki Karimi, ‘No Choice’ by Reza Dormishian, and ‘When Pomegranates Howl’ by Granaza Mousavi are the other representatives of Iran at the 14th Sofia MENAR.
The Sofia MENAR presents the best of the Middle East and North Africa film productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.
According to the official website of the event, the term MENAR (the Middle East and North Africa Region) is “an acronym often used to cover an extensive area, stretching from Morocco to Iran, including the majority of both the Middle Eastern and Maghreb countries.”
The upcoming edition of the event is slated for January 14-30, 2022.
