Syria Air Defenses Confront Zionist Attack

DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – A new missile attack by the Zionist regime targeted the commercial seaport of Syria’s coastal city of Latakia early Tuesday, the Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
Syria’s air defenses confronted the attack on Latakia, the Arab country’s biggest port city, which lies in its northwest.
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported the “missile attack” on early Tuesday.
The occupying regime fired missiles from the Mediterranean against the commercial port of Latakia, hitting the container terminal and igniting a fire, SANA quoted a military statement as saying.
The attack caused damage as firefighters are working to put out the fire, it added.
It is the second such attack on the port this month. The previous one was reported on Dec. 7.
Last time, the Zionist regime targeted Latakia around 20 days ago.
Syria and the occupying regime are technically at war due to the latter’s 1967-present occupation of the Arab country’s Golan Heights.
The regime maintains a significant military presence in the territory, which it uses as a launch pad for its attacks on the Syrian soil.
The attacks started to grow significantly in scale and frequency after 2011, when Syria found itself in the grip of rampant foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.
The Zionist regime claims that its attacks target alleged supplies that are headed for the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah. On countless occasions, though, the strikes have targeted the reinforcement belonging to Syria’s military and its allies.
The regime has also been providing safe passage and medical treatment to the terrorists.
