Persian Rugs on View in Iraq’s Kurdistan
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Kurdistan region of Iraq has been displaying Iranian carpets.
Set up by two big Iraqi Kurd investors, some six large exhibitions of Iranian carpets have put on display over 25,000 machine-woven carpets produced by 25 different Iranian factories.
According to annual figures, sales of Iranian carpets account for 90% of the market in this region.
Persian carpets are very popular among Iraqi households as they are compatible with the tastes of the people of the region.
They are also in harmony with the standard and the engineering of the houses in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
Iranian machine-made carpets have made their way into countries such as Turkey for the past five years.
Having a universal reputation in carpet weaving, Persian carpet or Iranian rug, a heavy textile for decoration or home use, is one of the main features of Iranian culture and art. It is also one of the leading exports of the country.
