Saeid Eskandarzadeh Claims Gold at World Para Powerlifting

TEHRAN – Iran’s Saeid Eskandarzadeh has snatched a gold medal in the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships.
The Iranian junior powerlifter lifted 150kg in the men’s up to 80kg category to not only secure the gold but set a new Asian junior record.
The World Senior Championships will start on November 28 and will run until December 6.
China topped the medals tally at Nur-Sultan 2019 with seven golds ahead of Iran and Nigeria with three each.
A total of 475 powerlifters from 72 countries are set to compete in Georgia. This represents a 16 per cent growth compared to Nur-Sultan 2019.
Tbilisi 2021 will see 18 Tokyo Paralympic champions in action, five of them from China.
