Iranian Films Walk Away With Awards at U.S. Route 66

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The 20th edition of the Route 66 Film Festival in the U.S. has awarded Iranian short flicks ‘Identibye’, ‘The Doll’s Game’ and ‘House of Fortune’.
Directed by Sajjad Shah-Hatami, ‘Identibye’ won the best foreign-language film award.
The film’s main character faces a dilemma and must choose between sense and sensibility.
His close friends have always judged him and these never-ending judgments fear him and make him doubt. He now has to work fast to achieve his goal; because, he knows that one’s true identity is what matters most to them.
‘The Doll’s Game’, directed by Mehdi Mahaee, won the award for best debut film.
Mahaee’s film is about a clown working in an amusement park in Iran, trying to collect his salary to pay for a lawyer to help him get custody of his daughter.
The best acting award was bestowed to actress Nasim Afsharpur for her role in ‘House of Fortune’ directed by Adel Mashouri.
Mashouri’s film is a minimal work with some unique lighting which has been performed by the actor using a lighter and a mobile phone.
The film that has been shot inside a small wooden box tells the story of a young woman named Rahil on her wedding night. The morning after, when she wakes up she finds herself inside a wooden box.
Began in November 2002, the Route 66 Film Festival is an annual film festival located in Springfield, Illinois.
This year’s edition of the event was held on November 5-15.
