Local Firm Overhauls Electrocompressor Gearbox
TEHRAN - The CEO of Iran Gas Transmission Company announced the successful repair and testing of the Revolving Planetary Gear module of the electrocompressor gearbox of Tabriz Gas Pressure Boosting Facility for the first time in the country.
According to Iran Gas Transmission Company, Mehdi Jamshidi-Dana said the operation shows self-confidence and localization of technical knowhow in the country which is a clear example of capability of industrialists in Iran.
He stated that the cost of repairing damaged parts of the item was about €15,000, equivalent to 6% of the original parts (€265,000), and added: “The cost of maintaining and repairing gas turbines is much higher than electric motors and gearboxes, and this gearbox can last up to 70,000 hours.”
The CEO of Iran Gas Transmission Company stated: “The input of the gearbox is provided by an electric motor with a power of 8.4 MW and a speed of 1500 RPM, and its output, which is connected to a gas compressor, operates in the range of 8400-12600 RPM.”
Jamshidi-Dana stated: “Due to the non-provision of parts by VOITH for repair, installation and re-commissioning of the item due to international restrictions (sanctions) and high sensitivity and special complexities of the equipment, none of the contracting companies took any responsibilities for re-installation and commissioning and regional experts at the company decided to use local capabilities to solve the problem.”
