‘UAE Seeking to De-Escalate Tensions With Iran’
DUBAI (Dispatches) -- The United Arab Emirates is looking to calm the strain on its relationship with Iran in an attempt to avert a potentially destabilizing confrontation in the region, a top UAE official said. A senior UAE government advisor and politician, Anwar Gargash, spoke on the matter at the Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate, a policy panel held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. “We have taken steps to de-escalate tensions as we have no interest in a confrontation,” he said, adding “The whole region would pay the price of such a confrontation for decades to come.”
