Persian Scientist Abu Rayhan Biruni Birth Anniversary Included on UNESCO
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The UNESCO commemorations and anniversaries list for 2022-2023 has included the 1,050th birth anniversary of the Iranian scholar and polymath in the Islamic Golden Age Abu Rayhan al-Biruni jointly for Iran, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
Iranian National Commission for UNESCO announced on November 11, 2021 that the 1050th anniversary of the birth of Abu Rayhan al-Biruni was jointly included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for the period 2023-2022 for Iran, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
By including this event on the world list of commemorations, as well as the approval of Sheikh Kharaqani’s 1,050th birth anniversary, and the 800th anniversary of the meeting between Shams and Rumi on UNESCO’s list of commemorations and anniversaries in 2022 and 2023, the number of registered Iranian celebrities in the UNESCO list reaches 42.
Abu Rayhan al-Biruni was a versatile scholar who has been considered one of the greatest scientists of Islam.
