A flurry of diplomatic activities followed by talks to set up industrial projects in Damascus are underway by US client Arab states, which for ten long years had opened their coffers for any macabrely murderous terrorist trained by Israel, armed with American weapons, and transported by Turkey, to destabilize Syria, destroy its towns and cities, slaughter and displace its people, and if possible overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.
Does it mean the conspirators have accepted their defeat and sincerely want to make amends for their crimes against humanity in Syria – a founding member of the Arab League which they had illegally barred from attending its meetings all these years?
The answer is rather difficult at this stage, when embassies are being reopened and heads of these states and senior officials are either phoning Assad or visiting him in Damascus, with smiles on their lips and warm words such as “Ya Akh al-Aziz” (O’ Beloved Brother), coupled with offers of setting up joint projects in Syria.
After all, sweet words of investments of a few hundred million dollars will not make any difference to the real objective of the US, which still sees the popularly elected Syrian president as a thorn to be removed from Israel’s expansionist goals in the region, let alone being compensation for the tens of billions of dollars the oil-rich Persian Gulf states had doled out to the terrorists to destroy Syria.
First it was Abdullah II of Jordan – a state created by Britain out of Greater Syria and which along with full diplomatic ties with the illegal Zionist entity heavily depends upon the US for survival – who dialed Dr. Assad for opening of the trade transit routes.
Then this week, another prominent Abdullah – the UAE Foreign Minister whose country backstabbed the oppressed Palestinian people by establishing diplomatic relations with Israel – landed in Damascus (without his traditional kandoura and kafiyah but clad in suave western clothing) with the usual crooked smile on his face, to greet the Ophthalmologist, who fortunately has the keen eyesight and the insight to discern friend from foe.
In other words, the Syrian president is fully aware as to who saved his country and who tried to destroy it. He knows that before start of the so-called civil war in 2011 he had been offered a sum of tens of billions of dollars to distance himself from the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah.
Anyway, since Islam is the religion of peace and emphasizes repentance and forgiveness, resumption of ties with the estranged are welcome, provided the intentions are sincere and without ulterior motives.
Iran, which along with Hezbollah (and later Russia), saved Syria from extinction, has welcomed the seemingly change of heart of the pro US Arab states and expressed hope that soon the aggressors whose seven-year long bombing has failed to destroy Yemen, will stop their wanton killing of the Yemeni people and pay war indemnity to the government in Sana’a.
Analysts, however, have cautioned that Damascus ought to be alert and on guard vis-à-vis the diplomatic developments that might hide any diabolical move to materialize the US plan to remove President Assad through deceit of a fistful of dollars, since the imposed war has ended in total failure.
They point out to the fact that these Arab states are not only fulltime American clients with growing attachments to Israel, but are the avowed enemies of the Axis of Resistance against Zionist designs.
Moreover, they have a record of deceit through use of dollars. First they feigned friendship with President Mohammad Morsi and then ousted from power the only elected president in Egypt’s history.
The same dubious tactics of bribes and betrayal was used to bring down Sudan’s longtime head of state, President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
We are confident the Eye-Specialist who for the past twenty years has ably piloted Syria through the stormy waters of US-Zionist-Arab reactionary plots, will succeed in foiling any diplomatically-disguised destabilizing move by his former enemies to unseat him.
