Syrian Air Defenses Respond to Zionist Aggression
DAMASCUS (Dispatches) –
Syria’s air defenses on Monday evening responded to an attack by the Zionist regime targeting areas on the Syrian coast and the central province of Homs, state news agency SANA reported.
The aggression targeted Homs and the coastal area near the Tartus governorate in northwestern Syria, the report said.
The Syrian military said most of incoming Zionist missiles were shot down, adding that two Syrian soldiers were injured and there was some material damage.
People heard the explosions as the air defenses were tracing the Zionist regime’s missiles.
The Lebanese media said Zionist aircraft had been spotted over Lebanon shortly before the strikes were reported and that Syrian air defense system was activated to repel the aerial attacks.
The report said the air defenses intercepted most of the missiles which were firing from inside the Lebanese airspace.
It is the latest one in a string of Zionist attacks targeting Syria.
The last Zionist attack targeted military sites in the capital Damascus on Oct. 30. The occupying regime launched an attack with a number of missiles targeting a site in the town of Zakia on the outskirts of the capital Damascus. Citing an unknown military source, the Syrian state TV reported early on Wednesday that the attack resulted in “material damage.” The same area had been targeted by Zionist missiles in a rare daytime aggression in less than a week earlier.
The occupying regime targets military positions inside Syria, particularly those held by the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, which has been a significant helping hand to the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists. The Zionist regime mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on Syrian territories, which many view as knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.
The Zionist regime has been a main supporter of terrorist groups that have opposed the government of President Bashar al-Assad over the past ten years.
