Amnesty Slams Settler Playground Attack on Palestinian Children

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – Amnesty International has condemned an attack by Zionist settlers and troops against Palestinian children in a playground in the occupied West Bank village of Sussia near Al-Khalil.
The incident took place on Saturday, when Zionist troops prevented the children and their mothers from having access to the playground in their village.
The playground opened in September having been renovated. Repairs were made to eradicate safety issues.
According to local residents, as soon as the repairs were completed, settlers began to go to the playground and photograph it. They staged a protest and demanded that the occupying regime demolish it because “it was built without a permit”, Haaretz has reported.
Amnesty described the actions of the Zionist troops and settlers as “a new episode in the series of hate crimes” committed by illegal settlers under the protection of the army against the Palestinians by expelling them from “public places, parks and woods”.
Human rights activist Basil Adra, who witnessed the playground incident, told Amnesty that the settlers have been doing this every week for some time.
Meanwhile, Zionist troops on Monday delivered stop-work orders against nine Palestinian homes in southern Qalqilya, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.
According to local sources, Palestinian citizens received military notices ordering them to stop building nine homes in the hamlets of Arab Al-Ramadin and Abu Farda, which are located behind the illegal separation wall.
The Zionist regime army justified the measure by claiming that the homes are located in ‘Area C’ of the West Bank, which is under its military and administrative control.
Some 70 Palestinians live in the impoverished hamlets of Arab Al-Ramadin and Abu Farda, southeast of Qalqilya.
In another development, Zionist troops kidnapped several Palestinians during raids in various areas across the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Information Center cited local sources as saying that the Zionist troops detained six Palestinians in the West Bank city of Qalqilya on Sunday.
The kidnapped Palestinians were identified as Anas Salman, Mujahed Mardawi, Ahmed Odeh, Ali al-Jada, Anas Hassan Salman, and Hamza Mardawi.
Emad Shahin and Yousef Abu Nab were kidnapped in Wad Sa’ir, east of the West Bank city of Al-Khalil, and occupied Al-Quds, respectively.
Three young men were also nabbed in the village of Deir Abu Da’if, east of the West Bank city of Jenin, during the early morning raids.
The Zionist troops stormed al-Bireh City on Sunday, sparking clashes with Palestinian residents which left two Palestinian teenagers injured.
They also stormed Jabel at-Taweel neighborhood in al-Bireh and raided several homes, but no detentions were reported.
