World Renowned Iranologist Rodriguez Bargas Awarded Plaque of Honor
TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Joaquin Rodriguez Bargas an advisor to Iran’s Cultural Attache to Spain and the representative of Sa’di Foundation in Spain was selected as the best Iranologist in the world.
He was awarded by the International Deputy of Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research and Technology by a plaque of honor upon being selected, public relations department of Sa’di Foundation in Tehran reported.
Rodriguez Bargas is also the founder of Persian language courses in Spain. Born in 1965 in Seville, Andalusia, the southernmost autonomous community in Peninsular Spain, he began to learn Persian through self-education at the age of 20.
The Spanish expert studied at Complutense University of Madrid and was graduated with a Ph.D. degree. His Ph.D. thesis was on a key Persian book of the early 13th century ‘Jawāmi ul-Hikāyāt’ (Collections of Stories and Illustrations of Histories).
He has translated two pre-Islam Persian books ‘Arda Viraf -Nameh’ (Book of Arda Viraf) and Minouy-e Kherad (The Spirit of Wisdom).
Rodriguez Bargas has also the translation of other classic books of Persian literature including Asrar al-Tawhid (The Mysteries of Unification) by Muhammad ibn Monavvar about the Sufi mystic Abū-Sa’īd Abul-Khayr; ‘Jawāmi ul-Hikāyāt’; Qabus-Nameh (Book of Kavus) written by Keikavus ibn Voshmgir; and ‘Golestan’ by Sa’di into Spanish in his career.
Recently, he also made a specialized speech at a webinar titled Influence of Iranian Literature on the World held by Iran’s Cultural Attache to Spain on the occasion of the commemoration day of the legendary Iranian poet Hafez.
