President: No Red Lines in Dealing With Corruption

TEHRAN -- President Ebrahim Raisi said Wednesday he has no red lines in dealing with corruption, stressing that he has tried to select his colleagues from among the most honest, anticorruption people.
Speaking in a cabinet meeting, President Raisi said fighting corruption was a demand by those who voted for him in the June presidential election in Iran.
He touched on the potential ground for corruption in recruitment of state directors, urging members of his administration to set meritocracy as the yardstick of their choices.
“Defend your appointments against any possible criticism if they were based on merit; otherwise rectify your decision,” the president said.
Raisi said officials should address any corruption under their jurisdiction and introduce perpetrators to the judiciary.
The president said his administration has for the first time asked for inspections by oversight bodies such as the General Inspection Organization of Iran, the Supreme Audit Court of Iran and intelligence agencies.
On Tuesday, he said there is no deadlock in addressing the country’s problems, adding the state organizations must act in a coordinated and systematic manner to help resolve them.
