Indian Envoy Calls For Extensive Ties With Iran
BANDAR ABBAS - Indian Ambassador to Tehran Gaddam Dharmendra on Sunday termed Iran as a reliable country for India, saying that India and Iran can be strategic partners in the region and that New Dehli wants to continue trade ties with Tehran as much as possible.
On his visit to Shahid Rajaee Port in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, , Dharmendra, termed the port’s role in the region’s maritime trade as irreplaceable and influential, adding that he was confident that Shahidi Rajaee Port, with its strategic location, can strengthen international transit between the north-south corridor.
Referring to the development of maritime trade between Iran and India, he said that in order to develop maritime cooperation, India has long been active in the field of public goods and general cargo in Chabahar Port and mainly, ships carrying bulk wheat and sugar dock in this port.
The Indian ambassador to Iran also referred to political and trade situation of Iran and India and the proximity of the sea route between Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, and Mumbai.
Shahid Rajaee Port, based on exclusive concessions such as unique geographic position at the nearest point to the Strait of Hormuz and the entrance to the Persian Gulf, as well as the short distance from the main intercontinental route of the ships, being located at the intersection of the North-South Transit corridor is considered as the most important gateway to the import and export of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
