Iranian FM: Enhanced Trade With Neighbors a Main Goal
TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Adollahian on Sunday said that the expansion of economic relations with other countries, especially the neighbors, constitutes a major objective in Tehran’s foreign policy agenda.
In a meeting with the secretary of affairs of Iran’s special free trade zones Saeid Muhammad, Amir-Adollahian said, “One of the main goals in the administration’s foreign policy agenda is to boost economic and trade relations with foreign countries, particularly with the neighbors.”
He said the Foreign Ministry has submitted a plan to the Parliament about employing the diplomatic capacities to promote economic cooperation with other countries and has begun to strengthen the economic divisions in the ministry and the Iranian diplomatic missions abroad.
A number of countries are willing to make investment in Iran’s free economic and trade zones, Amir-Adollahian noted, highlighting the great capacities available among Iranian expatriates.
He also expressed the Foreign Ministry’s readiness to step up cooperation and attract foreign investment in the free trade zones.
