Verona Stun Juve in Serie A
ROME (Xinhua) -- Juventus are seemingly out of the race for the Serie A title after they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away to Hellas Verona on Saturday.
The Bianconeri, which were just stunned by Sassuolo 2-1 in midweek, had to do without Federico Chiesa, De Sciglio, Moise Kean and Aaron Ramsey on Saturday’s game, while Arthur started in the middle of the park.
The home side surged into a 2-0 lead after 14 minutes into the game, as Giovanni Simeone completed a brace in a span of three minutes with a follow-up and a spectacular curler.
Juve were more aggressive after the break and pulled one goal back in the 80th minute as Weston McKennie drilled home in the box.
Paulo Dybala had the chance to equalize before the whistle, but only saw his attempt palmed away by the goalkeeper.
The Old Lady dropped to the eighth place with 15 points, 13 points adrift of joint leaders Napoli and AC Milan.
Also on Saturday, Atalanta held Lazio 2-2 with Marten de Roon’s late equalizer, while Torino dominated Sampdoria 3-0 with Andrea Belotti celebrating his 100th goal in Serie A.
