Souls of Martyrs Soleiman and al-Muhandis Cry for Justice

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

It is not an issue that needs talks or unnecessary negotiations between Iran and Iraq that simply prolong the undesirable existence of the murderers of two of the most prominent icons of the struggle against terrorism.
The cowardly assassins of Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani and Iraq’s Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis are well known, whether they live under heavy security in the US or any other country.
They should be brought to justice and meted out the capital punishment they deserve.
With due respect to our guest, Iraq’s Justice Minister Salar Abdus-Sattar Muhammad and his host, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Secretary-General of Iran’s Human Rights Office, who held talks in Tehran last Tuesday on identifying and bringing to justice the assassins of these two stalwart martyrs, it should be said that it is time to boldly name the murderers, whatever their former or current political status.
Any idea of approaching the International Criminal Court (ICC) in this regard is an exercise in futility and waste of time, resources, and energy, because this organ is devoid of justice and functions under orders of the big powers.
So what recourse do Iran and Iraq have and where will they pursue the assassination case of Soleimani and al-Muhandis?
The answer is obvious. They should hold a joint tribunal, attended by fair-minded international figures, to prosecute and pass judgement against the said criminals.
This is not an impossible task, nor is it time consuming, since most of those involved in the dastardly terrorist attack on 3rd January 2020 at Baghdad International Airport, have had the audacity to publicly admit their crime against humanity.
The criminals that should be brought to justice and meted out the deserving punishment include Donald Trump, who as the then US president personally ordered this act of terrorism and on whose wretched head the blood of the martyrs heavily weighs.
In view of the services to humanity of Martyr Soleimani and Martyr al-Muhandis and their selfless role in safeguarding of the security of Iraq, Iran, and the region against macabrely murderous terrorists and the state terrorism of the US, any delay is not advisable, since it only emboldens the terrorists to indulge in more crimes against humanity, as was the case with the assassination of Iran’s topmost scientist Mohsin Fakhrizadeh by Zionist agents on 27 November 2020.
The Judiciary Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hojjat al-Islam Gholam- Hussein Mohseni-Ejei on Monday last underlined the need for the most serious prosecution of the perpetrators of the assassinations.
Thus, it is time to act rather than repeat vows of vengeance that have not taken any practical shape except for the slight slap the US terrorist base at Ain al-Asad in Iraq’s al-Ambar Province received on 8th January 2020 through a barrage of ballistic missiles from Iran.
Iran is determined to end the illegal presence of CENTCOM terrorists in the region and expects Iraq to expel all US military forces from its soil, so as to grant solace to the souls of the two prominent martyrs.
