Nasrallah: U.S., Zionists Pushing Divisive Efforts Against Muslims

BEIRUT (Dispatches) – The Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement says the United States and the Zionist regime are pursuing their goal of sowing division in the Muslim world by hatching new plots.
“Over the past 10 years, we witnessed immense plots across the Muslim and Arab world...plots of horrible repercussions so to speak,” the Sayyed Hassan said on Tuesday.
Nasrallah made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the 35th International Conference on Islamic Unity that kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday via video conference, with hundreds of Muslim scholars and thinkers from around the world in attendance.
“We weathered tough days and years throughout this period. For the first time, it felt like the Muslim world and Muslim nations and their relations have reached the edge of a precipice,” he added.
“This was what the global arrogance, headed by the United States and the Zionist regime, was seeking,” noted the Hezbollah leader.
The Muslim world, though, survived the divisive attempts thanks to efforts at preserving its unity, he stated.
These efforts date back to the unifying push that emerged with the 1979 victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, said the Hezbollah secretary-general.
“Slogans and ideas promoting unity took form back then. These efforts lasted throughout these consecutive years, and strengthened unity among Muslim nations, and brought about much convergence among Muslims.”
As a case in point for the uniting endeavors, the Hezbollah chief cited the many conferences, events, and institutions that took shape across the Muslim world during the Islamic Awakening protests against regional dictatorships that began in the early 2010s.
“We managed to withstand the earthquakes that our world was faced with as a result of this unity and fighting power,” Nasrallah said.
“However, it should be noted that the plots and threats continue to exist. The global arrogance is keeping up its divisive efforts,” concluded the Hezbollah leader.
