Much Applauded Joint Production Competes in Germany
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Braun Schweig International Film Festival (BIFF) in Germany has been scheduled to screen acclaimed Iranian-French feature ‘Ballad of a White Cow’.
Co-directed by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moqaddam, the feature film will go on screen at the New International Cinema section of the 35th edition of the German event.
The flick narrates the story a young woman named Mina who lives alone with her deaf child while her husband had been executed being falsely charged for a murder he did not commit.
Mina tries to get her life together, take good care of her child and make both ends meet. However, her life gets more sorrowful when she finds out that her husband was innocent.
‘Ballad of a White Cow’ is a coproduction by Qolamreza Mousavi and Etienne de Ricaud.
The cast list of the movie includes Moqaddam, Alireza Sanifar, Farid Qobadi, Lili Farhadpour, and Pouria Rahimi-Sam.
The film has already participated in a number of prestigious film events, including the Berlin International Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.
Totem Films, a Paris-based international sales and co-production company, has purchased the rights to sell ‘Ballad of a White Cow’.
Launched in 1987, the BIFF is a film event annually attended by famous filmmakers from around the world.
The 2021 edition of the event is slated for November 1-7.
