South Korea, Iran Draw in World Cup Qualifier
TEHRAN– In a fairly close match without many chances and fans, Iran and South Korea finish tied at one goal, in a game corresponding to the fourth matchday of the Third Round of the AFC Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 on Tuesday at Azadi Stadium.
The teams had to share the points after they drew 1-1.
In a game with little excitement, Iran and South Korea played to a goalless draw in half time.
In the minute of 48, on a pass from Lee Jae-sung, Son Heung-min scored from outside the box to put the visitors ahead.
Iranian player Omid Noorafkan in 61 minute became the first cautioned player of the match.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh equalized with a well-placed header from Sardar Azmoun’s fine service in the minute of 76.
Mehdi Taremi’s shot from outside the box hit the right post. Iran came close to turning the game around in 77 minute.
Iranian side coached by Croatian Dragan Skocic has a perfect record with 10 points, the result of four matches, which places them at the top of Group A.
Meanwhile, the Korean team coached by Portugal’s Paulo Bento has also had a good performance, occupying second place in the first sector with 8 points, after two wins and two draws; they have scored four goals and conceded two.
