Jury Picks ‘A Ballad for the White Cow’ at Swiss Festival

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian feature ‘A Ballad for the White Cow’ has grabbed the Jury Award at the 17th edition of the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) in Switzerland.
Made by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moqaddam, the feature narrates the story of a young woman named Mina who lives alone with her deaf child while her husband had been executed for a murder charge a year ago.
Mina tries to get her life together, take good care of her child, and make both ends meet. However, her life gets more sorrowful when she finds out that her husband was innocent.
‘Ballad of a White Cow’ is a coproduction by Qolamreza Mousavi and Etienne de Ricaud.
The cast list of the movie includes Moqaddam, Alireza Sanifar, Farid Qobadi, Lili Farhadpour, and Pouria Rahimi-Sam.
The film has already participated in a number of prestigious film events, including the Berlin International Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.
According to the ZFF official website, “The Zurich Film Festival provides a platform for the most promising filmmakers from around the globe. It aims to promote exchange between emerging directors, successful film workers, the film industry and the general public”.
The 2021 edition of the event was held on September 23-October 3.
