Big Successful Film Named Best at Russian Festival

TEHRAN (IFILM) --
Iranian feature film ‘Walnut Tree’ has grabbed award at the Baikal International Film Festival in Russia.
The film directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, the movie won the best film award at the 2021 edition of the Russian event.
39 films from Russia, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Iran, Argentina, Australia, South Africa and Italy competed at this edition of the festival.
Based on a true story, ‘Walnut Tree’ is a film about the chemical bombings of a region in northwestern Iran by the U.S.-backed former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein.
Written by Ebrahim Amini and Hossein Hassani, ‘The Walnut Tree’ enjoys famous Iranian actors Peyman Maadi, Mina Sadati and Mehran Modiri.
Established in 2007, the Baikal International Film Festival was founded by the Union of Filmmakers of the Russian Federation and its Irkutsk regional branch and is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Government of Irkutsk region.
The 20th edition of the festival was held on September 8-12, 2021.
