Juve Claim Consecutive Victory, Lazio Win Rome Derby

ROME (Dispatches) - Juventus are seemingly back on track in Serie A, as they claimed their second consecutive win by beating Sampdoria 3-2 on Sunday, while Lazio won the Derby della Capitale with the same scoreline.
Juventus just snatched their first victory in the new Serie A season in midweek. Goalkeeper Mattia Perin got the nod, while Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and Federico Chiesa led Juve’s attack.
The Old Lady broke the deadlock in the 10th minute as Manuel Locatelli’s attempt was blocked, but the Italian international tapped the rebound for Dybala to sweep in a first-time strike from distance.
However, Dybala limped off in tears minutes later, making way for Dejan Kulusevski. It’s reported La Joya will miss the Champions League clash against Chelsea next week.
Juve extended the lead before halftime, as Chiesa earned a penalty which Leonardo Bonucci kept his cool to convert.
Sampdoria quickly pulled one goal back, as a corner was taken short, Antonio Candreva whipped in a cross for Maya Yoshida’s bullet header.
The Bianconeri restored the two-goal cushion in the 57th minute when Omar Colley was caught napping by Kulusevski, and the Swede drew out goalkeeper Emil Audero to pull back for Locatelli to bag his maiden goal in Juve jersey.
Antonio Candreva scored the second for the away side in the 83rd minute, but it was too late.
With the win, Juve climbed to ninth place on the table with eight points but was still 10 points behind leader Napoli, who conquered Cagliari 2-0 on Sunday.
In a highly-anticipated Rome derby, Lazio surged into a 2-0 lead within 20 minutes with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s header and ex-Roma star Pedro’s daisy-cutter. The Giallorossi pulled one back on the stroke of halftime with Roger Ibanez’s glancing header.
Lazio added the third through a counter-attack on the hour mark as Ciro Immobile set up for Felipe Anderson to tap in.
Jordan Veretout converted a controversial spot-kick for Roma later, but his side was still toothless to turn the game around.
Also on Sunday, Empoli conquered Bologna 4-2, Sassuolo defeated
Salernitana 1-0, Fiorentina won over Udinese 1-0.
