Hamas Denies Having Assets, Investments in Sudan

GAZA (Dispatches) – Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has denied having any assets or investments in Sudan, following media reports claiming the authorities in Khartoum had seized them.
“We don’t have any investments in Sudan,” said spokesman Hazem Qassem. “We do not have a problem with any Sudanese authority,” he added.
On Thursday, Reuters reported that officials from a task force set up to dismantle the regime of ousted President Omar Al-Bashir seized real estate, company shares, a hotel in a prime Khartoum location, an exchange bureau, a TV station, and more than a million acres of farmland.
A number of Hamas officials have denied the report, with senior member, Musa Abu Marzouk explaining that “some of what’s reported here is old”, adding that “most of it has nothing to do with Hamas”.
Meanwhile, political analyst Hazem Ayyad described the reports as “distorted and aimed at linking Hamas with the coup in a ridiculous way.”
The report that the property has been confiscated came two days after the Sudanese Ministry of Defence announced that it had foiling a coup attempt orchestrated by Bashir loyalists.
