Iranian feature ‘The Wasteland’ has received two nominations at the 15th Asian Film Awards.
The Asian Film Awards Academy announced the nominees for the 15th Asian Film Awards on Thursday.
Ahmad Bahrami has been nominated for the Best New Director award at the Asian Film Awards for his movie ‘The Wasteland’, which also brought Masoud Amini Tirani a nomination for the Best Cinematography.
The AFAA is jointly founded in 2013 by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival “for the development of Asian cinema”, the BIFF’s website reads.
‘The Wasteland’ is about hard working conditions and complex human relationships between several families living in a working environment.
According to earlier reports, Iranian movie ‘Sun Children’ also received two nominations, including Best Editing and Best Newcomer, at the 15th Asian Film Awards.
The 15th Asian Film Awards will take place on October 8 in conjunction with the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
The ceremony will be held in “a hybrid form, which combines on-site attendance in Busan and online participation”, the BIFF’s website reads.
