Resistance Factions Say Determined to Break Gaza Siege

GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) – Resistance factions in the occupied Gaza Strip are determined to break the siege imposed by the Zionist regime and Egypt on the enclave, the Islamic Jihad movement has announced.
“What is happening on the separation fence conveys the grievance of our Palestinian people to the regional and international community, as well as the occupation,” the movement’s spokesperson, Tareq Salmi, told reporters, adding that the Zionist moves to impose new equations would lead to “nowhere”.
He stressed that the resistance groups were “open to all options and possibilities in the face of the occupation intransigence, the continuation of its siege and the prevention of the reconstruction in Gaza.”
“The Palestinian resistance groups are determined to stabilize the equation of conflict and defeat the siege of Gaza,” Salmi reiterated.
At least 18 Palestinian demonstrators were reported wounded on Sunday night in a Zionist crackdown on demonstrations near the eastern fence of the northern Gazan city of Jabalia, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in a statement.
A Zionist trooper also died Monday of his wounds sustained from fire near the Gaza Strip last week, according to Israeli media.
Barel Shmueli, 21, was shot and injured near Gaza during a Palestinian protest marking the 52nd anniversary of the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Aug. 21.
Hundreds of Palestinians staged a protest against the Zionist regime’s blockade of the Gaza Strip, burning tires and hurling explosive devices toward the fence between Gaza and the occupied territories for the second night in a row.
The occupying regime’s, which deployed additional troops along the fence ahead of the Sunday night protests, used live fire, tear gas and stun grenades against Palestinian protesters.
During Saturday night’s protests, eleven Palestinians were injured by live fire and other aggressive measures used by Zionist troops.
Gazans have been organizing protests since last week. They are demanding that the crossings be reopened to facilitate the entry of goods and humanitarian aid.
In a statement on Sunday, the resistance committees in Palestine announced that the protests will continue until the Zionist regime lifts its siege.
“The young people will devise new means to force the occupation to yield to the resistance’s demands,” the committees said, according to the Palestinian Information Center.
The resistance would not allow the occupying regime to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people or change the rules of engagement, they warned.
The Gaza Strip has been under siege by the Zionist regime since 2007 when Palestinian resistance movement Hamas took control of the enclave.
