Judo Athletes Nouri, Kheirollahzadeh Win Gold
TEHRAN – Iranian para judoka Muhammadreza Kheirollahzadeh and Vahid Nouri claimed two gold medals in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
In the final match of men’s +100kg category on Sunday, Kheirollahzadeh defeated Revaz Chikoidze of Georgia to win the third gold medal of Iran in the Games.
Judo athlete also Vahid Nouri won Iran’s second gold medal at the 2020 Paralympic Games on Sunday.
He claimed a gold in the Men’s -90Kg at the Nippon Budokan.
Nouri defeated Cavalcante da Silva Arthur from Brazil in his first match.
He also beat French judo athlete Helios Latchoumanaya in a close bout to book a place in the final match.
The Iranian competitor defeated Elliot Stewart from Britain in the final and won Iran’s second gold in Tokyo.
The latest gold medal improved Iran’s rank in the medals table. The Iranian delegation now stands 16th in the table with three gold and four silver medals.
Powerlifters Rouhollah Rostami has already won Iran’s first gold in the Games.
