Hamas Rejects Jordan Settlement Projects

AMMAN (Dispatches) – The head of the Political Office of Hamas says the resistance movement rejects settlement projects for Palestinians in Jordan, news agencies reported.
Ismail Haniyeh Haniyeh and former Hamas chief, Khaled Mashaal, visited Amman to attend the funeral of former Hamas official Ibrahim Ghosheh, who passed away at 85.
As he addressed the people at the funeral, Haniyeh affirmed: “No for settlement projects. No solutions for the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan or at the expense of Palestine.”
He stressed, “Jordan is Jordan and Palestine is Palestine, but feelings, creed and religion are the same.”
The top Hamas leader insisted that the only solution for Palestinian refugees is to return to their homes from where they were forcefully evicted in 1948.
Haniyeh thanked King Abdullah II, the Jordanian government and the Jordanian people for the king’s approval of their entry to participate in Ghosheh’s funeral.
Meanwhile, senior Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouq met with Russia’s Special Presidential Representative on the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov on Friday.
The two officials met at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Moscow and discussed several issues related to the Middle East.
Abu Marzouq posted on Twitter that he met with Bogdanov and discussed the “developments of the Palestinian cause”.
They also discussed the Palestinian people’s “right to resist the occupation.”
During the meeting, Bogdanov expressed his country’s support for the rights of the Palestinian people and spoke about the efforts of his government to help the Palestinians.
