Japan’s ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ Appears on Iranian Bookshelves

TEHRAN ( Honaronline) -- A Persian translation of Japanese novelist Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s book “Before the Coffee Gets Cold” has been published in Tehran.
Japanese writer Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s novel, ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold,’ was rendered into the Persian language by Iranian translator Reza Abedinzadeh.
The translation was published by Aradman publications, in 233 pages.
The original edition was published in 2015, and an English translation of the book by Geoffrey Trousselot was released in 2019.
The novel is adapted from a 1110 Productions play by Kawaguchi, which won the grand prize at the 10th Suginami Drama Festival.
Kawaguchi’s beautiful, moving story raises the age-old question: What would you change if you could travel back in time? More importantly, whom would you want to meet, maybe for one last time?
According to panmacmillan.com, “In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: The chance to travel back in time.”
In ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold,’ “we meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of the café’s time-travelling offer, in order to: Confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by early onset Alzheimer’s, to see their sister one last time, and to meet the daughter they never got the chance to know.”
