Report: U.S. Troops Deployed in South Yemen to Aid Mercenaries

SANA’A (Dispatches) – As the Yemeni army and popular committees are advancing in al-Bayda and Marib provinces, the U.S. troops have arrived in the Yafa county in Lahij province in the south of Yemen to turn the tide in favor of Saudi-led mercenaries, Yemeni local media say.
According to “alkhabaralyemeni” website, Yemeni army forces and popular committees have carried out large-scale operations against militants and well as Al-Qaeda terrorists in central al-Bayda province in recent weeks, and many terrorists have fled to Lahij province in the south, where U.S. troops are stationed to support remnants of the terrorist group.
Two weeks ago, the Pentagon announced a plan to form new armed groups in Yemen under the pretext of fighting terrorism, while Sana’a government forces launched a large-scale operation called Al-Nasr al-Mubin in Al-Bayda province against terrorists.
Meanwhile, Yemeni news agency “http://www.ypagency.net” website also reported last week that some U.S. troops who had left Afghanistan had arrived at Aden Airport in southern Yemen to depart from there to Lahij province.
The United States also transferred dozens of military vehicles, UAVs, Patriot systems and field operations rooms to Al-Anad base on July 11.
The developments comes as Yemenis held a massive rally in the capital Sana’a in protest at the U.S.-backed Saudi blockade on their impoverished country and economic hardships resulting from it.
Thousands of Yemenis on Sunday marched through the streets of capital Sana’a to express their deep dissent over the U.S.-supported Saudi blockade, Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.
The protesters held the U.S. responsible for an economic war against Yemen through its full support for the Saudi-led military coalition that has been ceaselessly bombarding the country since 2015 and at the same time placed a crippling siege for the past several years.
Chanting slogans against Washington, the protesters said Saudi Arabia is a mere tool in the hands of the White House, which has raised the customs tariffs by 100 percent against the Yemenis through the Riyadh regime.
Chairman of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Yemen Mohammed Ali al-Houthi delivered a speech to protesters, stressing that the U.S. is constantly trying to depreciate Yemen’s rial against the American dollar.
Syrians, Palestinians and the Lebanese began suffering when the U.S. stepped on their countries, he said, adding that the Yemenis were now suffering because of the U.S. aggression against Yemen through Saudi Arabia and its allies.
