TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (YIDFF) in Japan is set to receive Iranian documentary movie ‘Makeup Artist’.
Directed by Jafar Najafi, the feature-length doc will be showcased at the New Asian Currents section of the Japanese event’s 16th edition.
This section of the fest that this year has works from S.Korea, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Taiwan and … will introduce the promising Asian documentary movie directors.
‘Makeup Artist’ shows the tireless efforts of a young woman who wants to find a way to study makeup design at the university.
The movie is Najafi’s second directorial experience after his acclaimed doc ‘Asho’ that has toured various global film events and has succeeded to grab awards including, the best documentary at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.
Launched in 1989, the YIDFF is Asia’s first international documentary film festival that holds biennially in Yamagata.
This year’s edition of the event is slated for October 7-14.
