Several New Gas Projects Inaugurated in Iran

TEHRAN - Several infrastructural gas projects were inaugurated across Iran on Thursday in a ceremony participated by outgoing President Hassan Rouhani via video conferencing.
During the inauguration ceremony, Iran started supplying gas to 21 new cities, 2,809 villages and 4,664 industrial units upon an order by Rouhani.
The gas projects conducted by the National Iranian Oil Company were inaugurated on the occasion of 75th program of production leap of the Oil Ministry.
Rouhani said that the country ranks first in the world in providing its citizens with gas supplies through an extensive network.
He said that the number of villages with gas supply network increased 25 times in comparison to the number eight years ago.
The figure of providing industrial sector with gas supply network also increased 10 times during the mentioned period, Rouhani added.
He expressed gratitude for the efforts made by Iranian experts, who have played key role in implementing gas projects throughout the country, noting that the great Iranian nation could overcome different hardships such as economic war imposed by the U.S. and COVID-19 pandemic in last three years.
He further pointed to the fact that new gas supply projects have been implemented in 21 cities, 2,809 villages and 4,664 industrial units in Iran.
Gas supply to every point in Iran will help develop infrastructures and create supplementary industries in villages and remote areas.
In fact, the Iranian experts and workers have carried out the whole gas supply projects, including construction of gas pipelines as well as gas transmission and distribution networks.
The implementation of gas supply projects by the use of Iranian workforce and technical know-how has help the domestic industry to substitute consumption of gas instead of Liquid fuel, which is another precious achievement of gas production in the South Pars Gas Field.
The Iranian government allocated more than $567mn for the gas projects.
The president also ordered inauguration of four gas booster facilities in Khuzestan and Fars provinces and another gas project in Imam Khomeini port also in Khuzestan province.
An Iranian gas official said earlier this month that plans are underway to considerably curb gas industry emissions in Iran within the next 3 years.
“The prevention of the industry’s emission by about 180 million tons in the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20 was successful,” Head of the Health, Safety and Environment Unit (HSA) of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Gholamreza Bahmannia said.
He pointed out that plans are under way to further reduce the sector’s emissions by 70 percent in the next three years.
Bahmannia said the emission would be controlled in gas flares of South Pars gas field under 5 or 7-year schemes.
