Heat Wave and Climate Change

Salaam dear young friends, and hopefully you are fine in these days of sweltering heat. The country is in the grip of a heat wave with temperatures soaring unprecedentedly all over Iran, while we are still in the early days of June.
Take care and don’t expose yourself to the scorching sun, especially at midday, when the weather is torrid. Even nights are a bit warm in Tehran and other Iranian cities situated at higher altitudes, where until a few years ago summers were viewed as springs by people living in hotter climes.
As a matter of fact, the Celsius all over the world has shot up, and the resulting climatic changes have affected even the polar caps, where icebergs are melting and for the first time bare and green soil has been observed in the Antarctic. Sea waters are rising, thereby threatening to submerge low-lying coastal areas.
Who is to blame for this catastrophe?
The answer is obvious. It is the modern man and his misuse of science and technology that is bringing about self-destruction. Industrialized nations are the major culprits, with their release of dangerous gasses into the atmosphere that is fast depleting the ozone layer which protects the Earth from the Sun’s purple rays.
The chief culprit is, of course, the US and its former president, Donald Trump, who was and still is a real criminal, as is evident by his pulling out of the World Climatic Accords and the testing of doomsday nuclear weapons with their release of large amounts of radiation that naturally lead to the warming of world climate.
At the same time, in the developing countries wanton destruction of forests takes place on the pretext of using lands for agriculture, with the result being desertification, dust storms and floods.
Well friends, this coming Saturday will be a very auspicious day.
Guess, what’s the occasion?
Yes dear youngsters, you have got it right. Saturday will be the 1st of Zi’l-Qa’dah and it is the blessed birthday of Our Innocent Lady of Qom.
For the information of the foreign readers of our weekly column, our reference it to Hazrat Ma’sumah (SA), who reposes in eternal peace in the magnificent mausoleum in the city of Qom, which is a 2-hour drive from Tehran, and is the second most important holy site of pilgrimage in Iran. The most blessed place in Iran is, of course, the grand holy shrine in Mashhad, Khorasan, of her illustrious brother, Imam Reza (AS), the 8th Infallible Heir of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
Born in holy Medina in 173 AH, she was named Fatema (SA), in honour of her great ancestress, the Most Noble Lady of all times, the Prophet’s Immaculate Daughter.
She was ten years old when her loving father, Imam Musa al-Kazem (AS), was martyred through poisoning in the dungeon of Baghdad on the orders of the tyrant Haroun ar-Rasheed, the self-styled caliph of the usurper Abbasid regime.
Insha’ Allah (God willingly) we will elaborate more on this topic.
Stay home, follow the health guidelines when you are outside, and see you all next week.
