Iranian Boxers Claim Two Silver Medals at Asian Elite Championships
TEHRAN – Iran’s Danial Shakhbaksh and Meysam Gheshlaghi have won two silver medals on the final day of the Asian Elite Boxing Championships Monday night.
The Iranian national team trained one month in Yangiabad, Uzbekistan together with the Uzbeks ahead of the Championships.
Two of eight-man team advanced to the finals of the competition as a result of the camp.
It was Iran’s best performance since the 2005 edition.
Shakhbaksh lost to Erdenebatyn Tsendbaatar from Mongolia in the 60kg and Gheslaghi fell short against Uzbekistan’s Dilshodbek Ruzmetov in the 81kg.
Iran ended the competition with two bronze and two silver medals.
Shahin Mousavi (75kg) and Pouria Amiri (+91kg) had previously seized two bronze medals in the prestigious competition held in Dubai, the UAE from May 24 to 31.
