Kuwait Says Committed to Palestinian Cause
KUWAIT CITY (Xinhua) – Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said on Tuesday that his country is committed to the Palestinian cause and supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah made the statement after talks with visiting Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.
In the statement, the Kuwaiti prime minister affirmed Kuwait’s principled and unwavering commitment toward the Palestinian cause, saying that Kuwait supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people for establishing the independent state with East al-Quds as its capital according to the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He stressed on the necessity of intensifying Arab and international efforts to resume the so-called Middle East peace process and halting violence against the Palestinian people.
According to KUNA, during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional issues, noting the mutual desire for boosting continuous consultations and coordination in support of diplomatic efforts for achieving stability in the region.
Earlier in the day, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said that Kuwait remains unwavering in its stance and support for the just Palestinian cause.
Kuwait would also be steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people until they achieve their dream in an independent state with East al-Quds as its capital, the emir said during a meeting with Mohammed Ishtaye.
Such lawful aspiration comes in line with international resolutions on this matter and also the Arab Peace Initiative, the emir noted.
