Netanyahu Cornered as War-Monger Rival Gathering Momentum
AL-QUDS (Dispatches) – Zionist prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right rival raced on Monday to forge a diverse coalition to oust the regime’s longest-serving premier.
The war-monger millionaire Naftali Bennett was in talks with the former TV anchor Yair Lapid on the terms of a “change” alliance that would end the Netanyahu era.
The Zionist regime -- after giving in to a May 21 ceasefire with Palestinian resistance movements in Gaza -- has been thrown into fresh turmoil.
After the fourth inconclusive elections in the occupied territories in less than two years in March, Lapid has been given a mandate to try and build a new cabinet by midnight Wednesday.
His chances rose when Bennett declared Sunday he would join a multi-party cabinet in which he and Lapid would take turns to serve as premier.
Netanyahu made nasty remarks against Bennett, accusing him of trying to form a “leftist” ruling structure that would ensure his rise to premiership, Qatar’s Al Jazeera television network reported.
Bennett, Netanyahu claimed, had been sowing “discord, division, and hatred” against him.
Such a “leftist” ruling coalition, would present “a danger for the security” of the Israeli regime, he said, adding, “Imagine what would happen in Iran, Gaza, and Washington, should a leftist coalition take shape,” he said.
The prime minister was trying to allege that a ruling coalition led by Bennett would back down from the Zionist regime’s aggression, however Bennett is widely known as a “far-right” figure.
Netanyahu has been holding onto power by tooth and nail for the past 12 years. His popularity has, however, suffered an unprecedented plunge among people, who have been holding regular rallies outside his residence for months on end to force him to resign.
Bennett has always called for a tougher military action against Gaza.
