‘Exports From Iran to Sulaymaniyah Reach $5bn Annually’
SANANDAJ (Dispatches) - The Governor of Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah Haval Abubakir said on Monday that annually five billion dollars of commodities are exported from Iran’s six borders to the Sulaymaniyah province of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq.
During a meeting on the implementation of the memorandums of understanding (MoU) between Kurdistan province and Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah, the official said that the export of goods from Iran to Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province has reached over five billion dollars.
He added that despite the coronavirus outbreak, the borders of Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province with Iran were not closed, and trade and economic exchanges between the two countries increased, indicating friendly cooperation and communication between the two states.
At the meeting, the process of implementing the memorandums of understanding signed in 2019 was reviewed, and the two Iranian and Iraqi sides emphasized efforts to conclude the memorandums of understanding.
