TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s national basketball team sits third in the FIBA Asia Cup medal table.
The FIBA Asia Cup has a long and lengthy history dating back to 1960. There have been 29 editions of the premier competition of the region and with the 30th edition set to be played later this year.
China is the most-decorated team, winning the title 16 times. The Philippines sits second with five titles and Iran is third with three titles.
There are only eight national teams that have played in over 20 Asia Cups, led by Korea who has never missed a single edition of the competition. Japan is just behind with 28 appearances, missing only Asia Cup 1963.
