Yemeni Army Hits ‘Sensitive Targets’ in Saudi Arabia

SANA’A (Press TV) – Yemeni Armed Forces have fired a dozen ballistic missiles and launched drone drones at "sensitive targets” in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern city of Najran in retaliation for the Riyadh regime’s devastating military campaign and crippling blockade.
In a post on his Twitter account on Thursday, spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said the missile force and the air force carried out the large joint operation using seven ballistic missiles of the Badr and Sa’ir type and five Qasef-2k drones.
The retaliatory attack targeted "Aramco facility, Najran Airport and sensitive targets of Najran,” he added.
Saree also noted that the operation "comes within the framework of legitimate response to the aggression’s escalation and an all-out siege on the Yemeni people.”
Yemeni missiles and drones have hit the designated targets with high precision, al-Masirah television network reported.
Yemeni forces regularly target positions inside Saudi Arabia in response to the bloody war, which was launched in March 2015 by Saudi Arabia in collaboration with a number of its allied states, and with arms and logistics support from the U.S. and several other Western countries.
The aim was to return to power the Saudi-backed former regime and crush the popular Houthi Ansarullah movement, which has been running state affairs in the absence of an effective government in Yemen.
The UN Security Council called for an immediate halt to fighting in Yemen on Wednesday, saying that only a lasting cease-fire and political settlement can end the six-year Saudi-led war in the Arab world’s poorest nation and the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
The Saudi-led offensive has failed to achieve its goals, but pushed Yemen to the brink, killed tens of thousands of innocent people and destroyed the impoverished state’s infrastructure.
Currently, 80 percent of the Yemeni population — including 12.4 million children — is in need of humanitarian assistance.
Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their retaliatory attacks on Saudi targets until the protracted Saudi war and siege come to an end.
