American Gallery Showcases Work of Iranian Artist

TEHRAN  (Honaronline) –‘A collection of paintings by Arghavan Khosravi are currently on view at Rachel Uffner gallery, America. The exhibit entitled "In Between Places” will continue until June 5.
Rachel Uffner Gallery is pleased to present "In Between Places”, artist Arghavan Khosravi’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. Largely made in isolation during the past year of quarantine, the new works in the exhibition build upon Khosravi’s previous explorations of techniques taken from historical painting genres — such the use of stacked perspective in Persian miniature painting — while also incorporating new sculptural and three-dimensional elements that further emphasize qualities of illusion and artifice.
Her acrylic paintings are formed next to sheets of wood and Plexiglas, a combination of Past and present, East and West and Reconciliation is the gap between time and space. Khosravi offers a combination of miniatures and surreal images to create captivating narrations. Her works represent various aspects of human life, especially immigrants, and use cultural motifs to capture the memories of one country while creating a new life in another.
Arghavan Khosravi (b. 1984, Shahr-e-kord, Iran) earned an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design after completing the studio art program at Brandeis University. Khosravi previously earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Tehran Azad University and an MFA in Illustration from the University of Tehran. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Yinchuan, China; Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI; and Provincetown Art Association and Museum, MA; among others.
She is a 2019 recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation’s Painters & Sculptors Grant and a 2017-18 recipient of the Walter Feldman Fellowship.
